Pro Gati was a 15-month programme to upskill and engage with the South Asian dance sector. The first stage looked at taking stock of the sector as it was and looked to the future through dance labs, roundtables and knowledge sharing.
The project focused on Dance Labs for South Asian Dance practitioners to explore Dance and Digital and Applied Dance in Health and Mental Health; Roundtable discussions on critical sector issues with showcase performances and documentation and sharing of the above for future reference and as teaching tools.
As well as funding for Sampad, Dance Hub Birmingham also invested in projects by Arts Connect and Sonia Sabri Company.
We hosted our first Pro Gati Dance Lab in January & February 2023, focusing on Dance in Health Settings. The three-day training was led by Rosaria Gracia with guest artists Bisakha Sarker and Amina Khayyam. Watch the video below for an overview of the training.
