Create and Change Project Brought To Life At The Unity Hub In Ward End

A taste of Bollywood in Ward End.

As part of our Create and Change project, we have been working with the residents who live in and around the Washwood Heath and Ward End area. Create and Change has been running throughout this year, offering free workshops, family days and creative opportunities, specifically working with the women and children in these areas.

We have delivered workshops in photography, drama, dance, filmmaking, arts and crafts to help build women’s confidence and to help them develop creative, technical and leadership skills.

Most recently, we have had a very successful Bollywood Taster Day at the Unity Hubb based in St. Margaret’s Church in Ward End. The women enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon of Bollywood-style singing workshops, Bollywood Dance workshops and stain-glass window making.

Later this month we are excited to be joining residents on a cultural walk around Birmingham city centre, visiting major cultural spots such as the Library of Birmingham, IKON gallery and Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

In December we are looking forward to offering another jam-packed family day at the Dolphin Women’s Centre. Washwood Heath and Ward End residents are invited to attend an afternoon of live performance, storytelling, arts and crafts, and jewellery making.  For more information about this event, please email Katie@sampad.org.uk.

Our partners Birmingham MIND and the Dolphin Women’s Centre have supported this project, as well as venue partners Ward End Library and The Unity Hubb at Saint Margarets Church.
