Tuesday 7th December 2010
‘As We Dream’ will launch on Wednesday 8th December 5pm -7.30pm at 27 – 29 Grove Lane, Handsworth B21 9ES.
‘As We Dream’ is a Creative Leap commissioned project and site specific installation exploring well being and mental health.
Since September artist Charis McNerlin has worked with different people and community groups to make collaborative work on this theme. The work is now being exhibited in an old shop which is temporarily being turned into a tearoom on Grove Lane in Handsworth, as part of the Inhabit Vacant Spaces Vibrant Places programme.
Charis will also be holding Hybrid Commissioned workshops within the tearoom space and creating work with people who come into the shop. Open workshops will be held on 14th and 15th December from 10am-3pm.
The installation can be seen from 8 – 16 December 2010 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 4pm.

Inhabit is part of the Empty Spaces initiative. It’s a programme of activity part funded by DCLG to re-invigorate local high streets and raise community confidence in local spaces. Hybrid has been commissioned by Birmingham City Council to produce Inhabit and the programme contributes towards the ‘Culture on your doorstep’ strand of Birmingham’s Cultural Strategy. Hybrid’s approach is to provide a pleasant place for people to meet, have a cup of tea, enjoy taking part in creative workshops or simply talk and share stories.
