Special Offer: 2 for 1 tickets

A modern interpretation of a classic 5th century Sanskrit play by the famous Indian dramatist, Kalidasa. A story of love and loss, nymph Urvashi runs away in a fit of jealous rage from King Pururavas who desperately seeks her. Encountered by the magic of nature he is driven from realistic to fantastical ‘mind-trips’ until he finds his true love.

The Absent Lover won 3 prestigious national awards in New Delhi, India at the META Theatre festival in 2009 for Best Choreography, Lighting and Set Design.

“With clever direction, a poetic screenplay, stark and unusual lighting, surround sound and an evocative movement vocabulary, this eclectic mix came together as one glorious whole.”
The Hindu, Chennai, India 2008
